Kanye West removed from Grammys performance lineup

Kanye West is continuing to make headlines for controversial reasons.

The outspoken artist will no longer perform in the 2022 Grammy Awards lineup due to his “concerning online behavior” over the past few months.

The news of Ye’s removal was first reported by The Blast last Friday and was later confirmed by a spokesperson for the rapper, claiming that Ye’s camp had received a call from The Academy regarding his removal.

Just last week, the Chicago native was suspended for 24 hours on Instagram due to violating policies on hate speech, bullying, and harassment after he used a racial slur directed towards “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah on Instagram.

Noah is now hosting the Grammy Awards next month and caught Ye’s attention after expressing concern over the artist’s actions towards his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

After hearing the news of Ye’s performance being scrapped, Noah tweeted on Sunday, “I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye.”

Ye has continuously sent shots towards various celebrities through posts made on his Instagram and has taken a strong stance on his relationship with his children. The rapper’s hit list has included actor D.L. Hughley, rapper Kid Cudi, and singer Billie Eilish.

Despite being removed, Ye received five Grammy nominations, including best rap album and album of the year for his project Donda. The 64th Annual Grammys will air on April 3 with live performances by Eilish, Jack Harlow, BTS, Lil Nas X, and more.
