NCAA Women’s Final Four Matchups

The NCAA Women’s Final Four will take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday night. Louisville and South Carolina will play in the first game and UConn and defending national champion Stanford will play in the second game of the doubleheader.


This is UConn’s 14th straight Final Four. South Carolina is in the Final Four for the second consecutive season and the fourth under head coach Dawn Staley. Louisville is in the final four for the first time since 2018. Stanford is aiming to become the first repeat champion since UConn won four straight National Championships from 2013 to2016.


UConn returns to the Final Four for the 14th consecutive season. UConn had a tough battle with NC State in the Elite eight in Bridgeport. The Huskies defeated the Wolfpack 91-87 in double overtime to advance. Paige Bueckers had a game high 27 points in the victory. UConn enters the final four on a 14-game winning streak.


South Carolina returns to the final four for the second straight season. The Gamecocks have been dominant all season with a 31-2 record on the year. According to ESPN.com, All-American center Aliyah Boston recorded a Southeastern Conference record 27 straight double-doubles until that streak ended on Sunday in an 80-50 win over Creighton. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Gamecocks are -150 to win the National Championship.


Louisville is in the final four for the first time since 2018. This is head coach Jeff Walz fourth final four appearance. Before Jeff Walz got to Louisville, the team never made a final four. Sophomore guard Hailey Van Lith leads the team in scoring with 14.5 pts per game. Van Lith is the most outstanding player of the Wichita region, according to 247 Sports.


Stanford returns to the Final Four after winning the National Championship last season. The Cardinals enter the final four on a 24-game winning streak. Senior guard Lexie Hall had a game high 20 points in the victory over Texas in the elite eight in Spokane last Sunday.

The Final Four will be televised on ESPN and ESPN Plus at the Target Center, home of the Minnesota Timberwolves. The championship game will be played on Sunday at 8 PM.
