Hampton University's annual Spring Fest has returned to its campus. Students are met with a week-long list of events hosted by the campus Spring Fest Committee. On Sunday March 27, the week began at Bemis Lawn. The “Litnik” required no tickets and was highlighted by a guest DJ and food trucks.
Throughout the week students can attend special events including: the Miss Hampton Fashion Show, The Platform, Comedy Show with Chico Bean, NPHC Step Show, Deeply Rooted with Michael Rainey Jr., Terpsichorean Dance Company, and a Holland silent party.
“The event that stood out the most [so far] was the fashion show,” said David Jackson, a third-year Architecture major Leadership Studies Minor.
Students feel that many events, including the fashion show and The Platform open mic night, give students a chance to showcase their unique talents. Those performing are also given the opportunity to promote any events or business ventures to students and staff members during.
“The culture is something I always look forward to in these events, “ said Jackson. “ Black people expressing themselves through fashion and art is inspiring and I love to see people being confident as they perform.”
Tickets can be purchased at the Student Center or select tickets can be bought at the door of events.
